Typeministry: The voices we will miss

Paying homage to the impactful voices we’ve lost in 2020.

2020 has left many, if not all of us, grieving some type of loss. Covid-19 has isolated and held us captive from the things we seemingly took for granted — and it’s amplified emotions to levels we could have never anticipated.

The community grief we’ve faced stretches from family to some of the most influential people in the world. It’s real. And it’s real because it hits home. It’s relatable. We remember where we were when someone we admire said or did something that impacted our lives. While it’s easy to succumb to the feelings that loss brings, it’s important to keep their memories alive. It’s ok to mourn. But remember… it’s not just about the impact of their death. It’s about the influence their existence brought to our lives.

No matter the size or stage, character and action is what has always and continues to speak volumes across a wide spectrum. The lives that were lost this year were purposeful and the gifts they’ve left us are innumerable. We can honor those who’ve left a mark on our lives by allowing their legacies to live on in our actions.

This Typeministry tribute is called “The voices we will miss.” No frills. No pomp or circumstance. Just simply a small effort by which I can pay homage to the voices that have left me with so much hope.
